Three Reasons To Buy A Country Cottage As A Second Home

Posted on: 24 June 2017

If you love "getting away for a while" and taking weekend getaways, then you may want to consider buying a vacation home. This way, you always have somewhere to go when you want a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. You can even leave all of the essentials in your vacation home so that you don't have to re-pack each time you visit!

While there are vacation homes in the city, in suburbs, and along beaches, the best place to buy one is often in the country a few hours from your permanent residence. Here are three reasons why country cottages make great second homes.

You get to enjoy some peace and quiet.

You don't always realize how loud the city and suburbs are until you leave and spend time somewhere quieter. "Detoxing" from all of that noise can help you feel more relaxed and at-ease. When you buy a country cottage and your closest neighbors are ¼ mile down the street or more, you have your own slice of quietness to retreat to whenever the mood strikes. You also have more privacy, as you don't have to worry about others nearby overhearing your conversations.

There's usually land to enjoy.

Most country cottages are built on larger lots of land. You might have two, three, or even more acres to do with as you wish. You could plant a garden, make a dedicated grilling area, or even plant a grove of fruit trees so you can pick fruit each time you visit your vacation home. At first, you'll look forward to working on your land and creating your garden, grove, etc. when you visit. Then later on, you'll look forward to utilizing what you've created.

There are usually quaint little towns to visit.

Have you ever noticed that little towns located in the countryside are relaxing and enjoyable to visit? They often house many local businesses, from ice cream shops to antique stores. This gives you something to do when you're visiting your vacation home, while still allowing you to avoid the busier atmosphere of large department stores and the like. Research towns within 15 or 20 minutes of a cottage when deciding on one to buy. If you love the vibe of a certain little town, buying a country cottage within driving distance will enable you to enjoy it again and again. Talking With Your Real Estate Agent About Your Needs

If you are on a budget, it can be frustrating to discuss your home needs with a real estate agent. You might find yourself stumbling over wants and needs, trying to figure out what you can get for your money. I found myself in that situation ten years ago when we bought our first home, and it was really frustrating. Fortunately, I had a real estate agent that really took the time to figure out what I wanted. After helping us to track down the home of our dreams, I decided to go into real estate for myself. I want to help other people to learn more about real estate.
